Skinny Pants, Chucks, & Another DIY Crop Top

It has been ridiculously hot lately! Even though I stay indoors most of the time anyway, not I have a legit reason to. I took these photos last Friday; the high for that day was 102^° (yes, a hundred and freakin' two degrees!!). When I take photos outdoors I'm usually standing in the sun because my skin photographs best in sunlight, but after taking just one photo in the sun, I gave up and started looking for shade at the side of the house.

We have really ugly grass in my neighborhood, and nobody cares to plant some more. I don't even know if you can call it grass because it's mostly weeds and dirt. Yeah, the dead grass is kinda ruining my pictures.

This is the only acceptable “head-on” picture I took that day because I’m not a model, so the fact that I was standing outside in the scorching heat for a good hour was written all over my face in most of the pictures.

The Bug Picture. This photo gives me chills. (the bug is the black thing on my left sleeve)

The bugs were going crazy on Friday, and since it was so hot I’m pretty sure they were looking for shade on the side of the house like I was. I got attacked by bugs between every photo, but this is the only bug that actually got caught in the photo. I don’t even know what type of bug it was; all I know is that it was big, black, buzzing, and so gross! I know it looks like the bug was on my sleeve, but it was actually flying past my face; I also appear to be calmly looking down at the bug, but that’s because the camera snapped the photo right before I started freaking out and running away.

DIY Bleached Crop Top and Bodycon Dress

Rockin' two of my recent DIYs!
I hacked the bottom off of one of my mom's old t-shirts, soaked the sleeves in bleach overnight, and spritzed more bleach on the bottom of the t-shirt the next day. This is one of my hardest pieces of clothing to wear (the light pink color of the bleach, the little spots of gray at the bottom, the loose-fitting sleeves, the cropped style, and how could we ever forget the weird little star in the middle of the shirt that seems to clash with almost everything?). To make this shirt work, I had to pair it with one of the simplest outfits ever.
I made the black bodycon dress out of one of my big sister's old t-shirts. It's not one of my favorite DIYs. It came out shorter and tighter than I thought it would, but it seems to work fine with the black opaque tights underneath and my brown lace-up boots.

Yes, I Do Go Thrifting in My Own Garage.

Just Call it "Grunge"

I took OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) photos outside for the first time. From now on, every time I want to take OOTD photos, I'm going to take them outside; they come out so much better! The quality is better, my skin looks smoother even though I'm not wearing any makeup (except for my red lipstick of course), and I didn't even have to edit the pictures. Sunlight looks way better on my skin than a light bulb/ceiling light/electric light (whatever you want to call it) does.

My little sister said my outfit makes me look like an orphan. Then she was like "Nahh, you look like Sikowitz's (from "Victorious") daughter. All you need is a coconut." haha!

My big sis said this about my t-shirt: "It's grunge, which is another word for ratchet." :) The things my siblings say...

I like my facial expression in this one. It's so careless.

I made the crop top myself. I was thinking about making a DIY video for crop tops, but it's so easy to do that making a video about it might be a waste of time. All I did was take an old t-shirt and cut some fabric off the bottom, easy right? Maybe I'll find/think of some more DIY t-shirt projects to try out before making the video...hmm, we'll see.

Denim & Studs

So I finally decided to put the silver pyramid studs I bought during the summer to use. My overused denim shirt got a much-needed makeover. After about an hour of work, I covered both of the pockets with my awesome, medium-sized studs. I love how it turned out! My jacket looks much edgier now, and I feel like the studs give my shirt a harder, "military" kinda feel. I made a how-to video for this DIY project; I'd love if you-all watched it, gave me feedback, and tried this out for yourself. You won't regret it!

How To: Add Personality to Your Clothing

If you want to add personality to your clothing you need to know what your personal style is. Are you edgy, boho, girly, glam, classic, indie, or a mixture of some or all of these? Reading the Seventeen Ultimate Guide to Style helped me to realize that I like elements of all these styles, but over-all, my style is a mixture of edgy and glam. I also made a list of all my favorite clothing trends and items. Doing this helped me to separate what I actually like from current trends. When you know what your style is, what you do/don't like, and what does/doesn't work for you it'll be easier to make your clothing more "you".

DIYs are the easiest and most basic ways to add personality to your clothes. Whether it's bleaching, ripping, studding, paint splattering, dyeing, etc. the finished product will always have a sense of personality because you made it yourself!

DIYed clothing helps to show your personal taste and style in a way that nobody else can imitate. I love the fact that DIYs never turn out exactly the same each time, so no one will ever have the same thing as you.

Another thing you can try is putting little pins, on your vests, jackets, shirts, etc. Pins that are cute, make you laugh, or say things that mean something to you add uniqueness or quirkiness to your outfit.

Try putting together an outfit where every piece shows an element of your style or means something to you.

Example: A quirky printed scarf (indie), a basic white top (classic), a pretty floral skirt (girly), a fierce leather jacket (edgy), your mother's luxe leather bag (boho), those cute little earrings you got during your unforgettable trip to Paris, and your go-to heels that make you feel like a celeb (glam).

You can also try wearing a charm bracelet. If each charm means something to you, or if you make the bracelet yourself, the bracelet will tell a story; it will add instant personality to your outfit, and it looks very stylish!
